Who goes to H.U.G. camp?

H.U.G. Camp is where everyone is welcome!

Camp is for kids finishing 4th grade through those kids that have just completed their junior year of high school. We welcome new campers as well as returning campers. Most campers come from Illinois, Michigan, and Indiana, but some travel from as far away from Iowa and one counselor comes from California.

H.U.G. Camp is such an awesome experience that many of our volunteer staff are former campers who love doing all that they can to ensure that our youth continue to enjoy camp for years to come! We definitely encourage campers to bring their friends too.

what is H.U.G. Camp like?

H.U.G. Camp is an overnight sleep away camp filled with supervised activities. At camp we take time to explore God, and there are also loads of creative and athletic opportunities to choose from, such as: archery, flag football, wood working, volleyball, fun with science, arts and crafts, ultimate frisbee, and much more. There’s plenty of beach time on our beautiful Lake Michigan beach with a shaving cream extravaganza on Friday afternoon for those who enjoy that kind of thing! Each evening is busy with camp-wide events including skit night, climbing Mt. Baldy (aka Tower Hill Dune), s’mores around the campfire, and the ice cream social, to name a few. Where is H.u.g. camp located?

H.U.G. Camp is located in Southwest Michigan, a half a mile to Lake Michigan and the Michigan Dunes in Sawyer, Michigan, on the Tower Hill Camp and Retreat Center.

Our camp grounds are nestled on 60 acres of forested lands with a portion of the Lake Michigan beach belonging to Tower Hill.

When is h.u.g .camp in 2027?

Sunday, July 11th through Friday, July 16th

Arrival/Check-In Time:

Check-in time is 1:00pm NOT BEFORE (Camp staff, counselors, and directors are preparing for campers and need the time before to get ready).
Camp is in Eastern Daylight Time, not Central Daylight Time (you will be checking in 1:00pm Illinois time)

Departure/Check-Out Time:

Check-out time is 10:00am. Campers will be at the cross ending with camp songs. We'd love for you to stop by and watch.
Camp is in Eastern Daylight Time, not Central Daylight Time (you will be checking out at 9:00am Illinois time)

Since 2010, our T-shirt lineup has survived everything except a global pandemic. The designs cycle between official logos and deep-thought themes, like the time we made tie-dyed "Unplugged" shirts to remind everyone to live in the moment (which they read while staring at their phones). We love them all equally, even the existential crisis ones.

Did you know...

You can pay monthly for your camper. Come spring, you won't have to worry about the larger payment. Once you register and pay the deposit, simply login and pay as you go with final balances due before camp.

We also have gift certificates that can be given to campers. Do you struggle with what to get that pre-teen or teenager? Help send them to camp.
